Big Number issue #3

So here's the story: Some guy bought issues 1&2 of Alan Moore and Bill Sienkiewicz's Big Numbers on eBay -- the only two issues ever published and he also gets a set of photocopies of the never seen before issue #3. So he contacts Alan and gets Alan's permission to post the whole thing online. So go check it out -- it's like the holy grail. We may never get to see the series finish but we have one more piece of the puzzle to let us dream about what it might have been like.

Immaculate Bovine Conception

At work we've started these weekly challenges -- someone comes up with a theme or in this case the name for a non-existent band called Immaculate Bovine Conception. Here's what I put together.

The Roberts Trade Paperback Contest

So Amazon finally got there shit together and has The Roberts trade listed as being available (yay!). I uploaded some user images of interior and the cover but we really need some word of mouth to get people to buy the book.

That's where you guys come in. We want you to write some reader reviews on Amazon.

For each review that you post you will be entered into the Roberts contest and the one winner will be selected at random.

Here's what you win:
The original art for page 8 from the second issue of The Roberts (see above)

A copy of the Roberts trade signed by Justin Shady / Wayne Chinsang and Erik Rose

An original black and white sketch of the character of your choice by Erik Rose

To have your reviews count; copy and paste the content into an email and send it to me at erik@erikrose.com
Please include your full name and address. The contest ends April 6th

Write and post your reviews here!
Thanks!

More Lebowski in my future...

This is my cover illustration for Cathleen Falsani's book due out in the fall: "The Dude Abides: The Gospel According to the Coen Brothers."
In the book Falsani, an award-winning religion columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times, examines  the Coen Brothers -- looking at how Ethan and Joel present existential and theological questions in their films.
I'll be doing 14 black and white interior illustrations, one for each film, representing the good, the bad, and the ugly characters that inhabit the crazy worlds brought to life by these amazing auteurs. Those of you that know me know that this is a dream project. I did a series of Big Lebowski self-promo pieces a few years back which lead to doing this book. I'll be posting sketches of the work in progress. You can read more about the book here.

I didn't think it was possible...

I saw Cheaters for the first time in years and Joey Greco has gotten creepier than when I did this portrait of him. Between segments he was talking about how you can go to Cheaters' website and hire a private detective yourself and he ended the pitch by saying, "I'll be waiting for you there." Wow -- that's a commitment to sliminess. Kudos Joey!

Original Art Collection 2

Three pages from an unpublished one-shot called "The Punisher: The Cell". Pencils by Lewis LaRosa inks by Tim Bradstreet. Still have to get these puppies framed
